DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR OBTAINING FSSAI REGISTRATION

To obtain an FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) registration in India, you will need to submit specific documents and information as per the category of your food business. FSSAI registration is necessary for businesses involved in the manufacturing, processing, storage, distribution, and sale of food products. Here is a general list of documents required for FSSAI registration:

Form A:

This is the application form for FSSAI registration. You can fill this form online or offline as per your convenience.

Business Proof:

You will need to provide a document that proves the legal status of your business depending on the type of your business it could be:

➧For Proprietorship: AADHAAR Card, Voter ID, or Passport of the proprietor.
➧For Partnership: Partnership Deed.
➧For Private Limited Company: Certificate of Incorporation and MOA & AOA.
➧For Co-operative Society: Certificate of Registration.
Photo ID and Address Proof of the Applicant:

This could be your AADHAAR Card, Voter ID, Passport, or any other government-issued ID.

PAN Card:

A copy of the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card in the name of the business entity.

List of Food Products:

Provide a list of the food products you intend to manufacture or sell under your FSSAI registration.

Food Safety Management System Plan:

For certain categories of businesses, especially manufacturers, a basic food safety management system plan is required.

NOC from Municipality or PANCHAYAT:

You may need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the local Municipal or PANCHAYAT authority.

Incorporation Certificate:

If your business is a company, you'll need the Certificate of Incorporation.

Rental Agreement:

If you are operating your business in a rent premises, you will need a copy of the rental agreement or a no-objection certificate from the property owner.

Food Safety Officer's NOC:

In some cases, a No Objection Certificate from the Food Safety Officer may be required.

Declaration Form:

This form affirms that the food business complies with the FSSAI Act and Regulations.

Supporting Documents:

Any other documents that may be required depending on the specific category and nature of your food business

TYPES OF FSSAI LICENSE REGISTRATION

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) offers different types of licenses/registrations based on the scale and nature of the food business. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, here are the three primary types of FSSAI licenses/registrations.

FSSAI Basic Registration:

This is required for small food businesses with an annual turnover of up to Rs.12 lakhs. Basic registration is suitable for small-scale manufacturers, distributors, and food retailers. The basic registration is granted by the local food safety authority.

FSSAI State License:

Businesses with an annual turnover of more than Rs.12 lakhs but less than Rs.20crores are required to obtain an FSSAI State License. This category covers medium-sized food businesses and manufacturers that operate within a specific state. State licenses are issued by the State Food Safety Department.

FSSAI Central License:

Large food businesses with an annual turnover exceeding Rs.20crore, or those involved in import and export of food products, are required to obtain an FSSAI Central License. This category is for businesses that operate across multiple states or at a national level. Central licenses are issued by the Central Licensing Authority, which is the FSSAI headquarters in New Delhi.
